Pumpkin Torture!

This was suppose to be a fun little family activity for us, but by the time we (but pretty much just me) got done I was ready to go throw the pumpkins off the front porch into the road! And for some reason my pictures ended up in the wrong order so you get the finished product first.

For the record, the one says SPOOKY not spanky, the two O's are eyes.
This picture pretty much sums up my excitement for the night. This was the only part Deegan enjoyed. He hates the pumpkin guts he thinks that they are scary and yucky, which Clint says is my fault because I was so paranoid about him ever getting dirty or touching anything gross when he was little. But that was before I had two kids.
Auni on the other hand dove right in. She actually tried to eat the goo!
It started out well, with everyone participating. But after Clint got the tops off he disappeared into the computer room for like an hour (he actually did come and clean out one and a half when I said there was no way I was doing all three), and like I said when it comes to the cleaning them part Deeg is not a fan so he was off to his room to play with toys. That big one in the middle is the thickest pumpkin I have ever carved, it was like 2 1/2 inches thick! I ended up carving two of them and Clint carved the other one. I had actually wanted to get patterns off the Internet but like I said, I lost patience with the whole thing. Really we just started too late so it didn't go as well as planned, maybe we'll have better luck next year!

Deegan and Auni

I just had some cute pictures of the two of them so I figured I would post them. They always look so cute before we go to church that I wanted to take a picture. After we get there is another story, the tie comes off and so does Auni's flower. Then the clothes get all wrinkled from playing on the floor and all those other fun things that entertain them through sacrement meeting. There are two pictures because getting one that they both look cute in is next to impossible. We almost had it in the second one but Auni had to put her foot up at the last minute.

This one was from a day that my patience had all but run out. Deeg had been playing with his cousin and one of the two had gone to the bathroom and didn't flush and left the door open. (I have to keep the doors shut on all the bathrooms because Auni is terrible with the toilets and getting into everything in the drawers and cupboards) So shortly after Deeg's cousin left I am looking for Auni and find her in my bathroom with mine and Clint's toothbrushes in both hands soaking wet with, well it could have been worse, but lets just call it YELLOW water. Yes so not only was she contaminated but so were our toothbrushes (that have since been disposed of)! I got her all stripped down and washed her hands and face really well so that I could put her in the tub, went to check on Deeg real quick, come back to get her and she has gotten into another cupboard and dumped powdered sugar all over the kitchen floor and my sink rug! Obviously I wasn't in a very humorous mood or I would have taken a picture. That's why she ended up in the sink for her bath, so I could see her and clean at the same time. Deeg just got in because her thought it looked like fun.

Weekend Vacations

We have had a couple of fun weekend trips this this month. We spent UEA in St George with my family, and it was fun. But I feel like a bad mom because I didn't get any pictures of Deeg while we were there because I either forgot the camera or was waiting for a better opportunity. So I got some really cute pictures of Auni, she was the swimming queen. She absolutely loved the pool and spent more time in there than Deeg!

She did have a swimming suit on at one point but she got a little cold so we ditched it since she was pretty well covered, minus the plunging neck line.

Deegan caught himself in his bug net!
For Conference weekend we went to the cabin with all the girls because it was the duck hunt opener and all of our husbands were in Idaho. The kids built themselves an awesome hut that they thoroughly enjoyed.Deeg and Auni enjoyed some popsicles, Auni (thanks to mamie aka my mom) actually had 4!

It was actually snowing in these two pictures and the kids loved it but they didn't last long because it was so cold!

Pumpkin Harvest 2008

My Mom came up with a brilliant idea this year, she decided that we should do our own pumpkin patch. Anyone that knows us knows that we have a rather large family so we need a lot of pumpkins. My dad has a farm in Cedar Fort and had the perfect spot for them, so this morning we went out and gathered them up and delivered them to everyone's houses. My Dad was sure that they would all be dead because they haven't been watered in a little while, or that someone would have stolen them by now, and that at best we would only have 20 small pumpkins. But much to our surprise when we got them all gathered we had about 41 good sized ones, 37 of them pretty big, and about 60 of the small decorative ones.

Our little pumpkin patch, not all of our vines produced or even grew. The antelope trampled some of them earlier in the year. (but this was after we had gathered them all, thus the middle being empty)
All done!

The kids had a blast and so did we. We will definitely be doing it again next year, maybe we'll have better luck with getting most of our plants to grow! (and PS I look awesome in all of these pictures! no make up is definitely where its at?)
